Yeah, bad news; causes underhood fires. I had that recall taken care of as SOON as I bought my truck. The previous owner gave me a portfolio of EVERYTHING he had done to the truck, and one of the documents inside was the letter from Ford for this recall, with a note on it that said "Not taken care of. Never an issue" Imbeciles. Of course it wasn't an issue since the truck did CATCH ON FIRE!

What a problem for Ford...

Issue a recall and pay to fix all these cars and trucks.... and now have to recall them all again to check them out... no wonder Ford is lossing money!!!!

Crap I didn't read this correctly earlier. So I'll have to take my truck in for this recall for a SECOND time. Man. I'm gonna disconnect my cruise control tonight just to be safe.

A. Correct. Although some customer may regard the inability to use their Speed Control System as an inconvenience, we believe this action is in the best interest of our customers' safety.

Like, if your truck already burned up because we put a faulty switch in from the factory, then fixed it, and realized we didn't fix it, well, that's just not our fault.

I still wonder what changed from '92 to '93 with that switch. What did they do so different on the '92 that was so much better? Or are they privileged to a 15 year statute of limitations?

the problem stems from the fact that power is supplied to the switches in question constantly. If the switch develops a leak, a spark can set fire to the brake fluid. The original recall, checked the switch for leakage, then installed a fuse in the power circuit. The second recall was because 225,000 vehicles, the power circuit was on a different circuit from the fuse used in the harness.
