Long crank 4.2L

I am working on a 2000 F-150 with 4.2L engine that has a long crank after 1-2 hours of sitting following a drive cycle. Plugs are new, fuel pressure is within spec. It starts fine cold, sitting less than 1 hour or more than 2 hours. I am in Southern California. Any experience with this scenario? Any ideas? Please help.

Any smoke when it finally starts? It may have fuel pressure meeting pressure specs, but how long does it hold it when you turn off the key? It should hold for 3-5 minutes. If not, leaky injector(s), regulator, fuel pump, lines.
