I would love to do storm spotting. Is there such a thing as a hobbiest storm spotter or is it where you take the spring season off from your job and chase constantly?

I am seriously considering this, even just to learn about spotting, I think would be cool.

You never actually chase, that is someone else's job. All we are to do is observe from any location of our choice. You can do it as much or as little as you like. It is strictly voluntary. Essentially, most of us only do it from our homes or where we would happen to be when weather happens. You learn how to distinguish an actual tornado from many of the lookalikes.There is no cost to attend, and no obligation to do anything.
