0425 - 2005-2008 Navigator 6hp26 Transmission - Intermittent Delay Or No 2-1 Down Shift
Some 2005-2008 Navigators May Report A Low Speed Hesitation, Delay Or Surge From A Stop With No Dtcs. The 6hp26 Transmission Strategy When Decelerating Is To Downshift From 2nd To 1st Gear At 4 Mph; This Was Done To Improve Fuel Economy. This Strategy May Be Perceive As 1) The Length Of Time It Takes To Complete The 2-1 Downshift During A Quick Stop. 2) Stepping Back On The Accelerator Pedal While The Vehicle Is Still In 2nd Gear And Above 4 Mph (for Example: A Rolling Stop Or Yield). 3) Surge As The Transmission Engages Into 1st Gear. It Is Recommended To Compare The Unit To A Like Unit With Over 50 Miles. If The Same Conditions Exist This Is Considered A Product Characteristic, Do Not Attempt Any Repairs.
