transmission slipping in 2nd gear

Over the last week my truck has "bucked" a little on take off and stop....thought it may be the fuel pump but tonight when driving it seems as though I lost 2nd gear. Right around 20 mi/hr it revs but doesn't excel as it should until it hits 3rd gear.

Any suggestion? Can I replace one gear only or is it the whole shooting match? Cost?

what you can do is shift it up through the gears manually to reassure whether or not you have 2nd gear. it may just be a shift solenoid thats messing up and its automatically jumping to 3rd gear.

Tried that when I made it to a parking lot. Seems to do the same thing in 2.

I'm working nights doing some demo about 35 mins from home......think I'll make it until I see my mechanic in the AM.?

Man I really need to get under the truck more often.....I hate not knowing.

Not yet. It happened during work and I don't get out til midnight......tomorrow I'll have it checked. Just worried about the ride home is all.

Well I made it home and the truck is at it's second garage. :headbang: "My guy" says transmission is gone but.....like a smart shopper I want a second opinion and now it's with someone new and reputable.....so says the stranger who turned me on to him, hmmmm maybe I didn't think this through? Says he's going to run it through the whole shooting match and give me a real diagnosis!

Either way I can feel my wallet getting lighter. I'll let you know what this new guy says......fingers crossed
