Anyone know of any really good spots to do some beach camping along the NC coast or outerbanks? Some place that will still let me do some dune running in the Bronco? I've know Ocracoke, N. Myrtle, Hatteras and Emerald Isle were really good, but I'm not sure what their vehicle policies are anymore. I was also thinking about Carolina Backwoods, but that's 15-20 mins from the beach, but killer wheeling. I also heard of a spot in the Carolina/Kure Beach area, but dunno the name of the place. Really, I'd like to be able to wake up on the beach every morning if still possible. So if you guys have any info, lemme know.

Well, Myrtle has been good to me... But I never inquired about having a rig on the beach.

I just went to kill Devil Hills last week to look at a job.
After having not been there in 15-20 years ,I couldn't believe
how much it's built up.

Myrtle is fine, but for me it's a bit too industrialized and directed towards shopping and entertainment, than 'roughing' it.

Hmmmm...that's where Dennis Anderson's offroad park is at. But being 'built up' kinda scares me off. I'm looking more for a wake by the sun, fall asleep by a fire...only lights in the sky are stars.

I know there used to be a lot more places, but the 'erosion' problem has caused them to shut down alot of those areas. So now the beach is a short walk away. But even then, you stil can't ride the dunes and some times of the year depending on migrating animals, you can't even go on the beach. Regardless, I'm sure I'll find something...just need to do a little more digging.

I drove right by Dennis Andersons place, and all the Grave Diggers on display.
It's a ways back from the nags head beach area. More wooded and farm land. A lot of turf farms around there.
They give rides for $5.

yeah! Oregon Inlet right below Nags Head. As a matter of fact, ill be camping down there June 19th!!! you cant ride on the dunes, but there is plenty of beach to ride on. Also, if you drive an hour north up to Corolla, there is 11 miles onew way and 11 miles back of beach driving, but no camping. Ill be camping at the Oregon Inlet Campground @ $20 a night. Its right behind the dunes and right by the acess of offroad vehicles.

I used to live ocean front Nags Head in 94-97 and i go every year to the OBX now. It is NOWHERE near the same beach it was back then. It has really grown and is HUGE now

Carolina Beach has vehicle access but not much wheelin fun due to police patrols and such.Very crowded and to many Heep boys out there.You know daddys money guys.
Carolina Backwoods is alot of fun especially if ya like mud like I do.Heres some pics of last months charity event for Wounded Warrior.
