i now going to rebuild the 302 that's in my truck. i need to know which cam would give me good low end torque & preformance for a daily driver. i won't be towing anything just hauling every so often. so far i have the eddy carb(600CFM) & preformer intake C4 tranny & shorty hearders. i'm planning on GT40 heads or some off a gt mustang what do you guys suguest for a cam???

Comp cams 35-230-3 or 35-234-3 if it's a flat tappet motor. Note: These cams use the HO/351 firing order while the 31-230-3 and 31-234-3 versions use the old 302 firing order. Both will work in your '84 302, simply route the plug wires to match.

thanks Paul i was going with the 351w but due the budget i had to go with the 302 since i already have the intake. but it is a flat tappet motor. this way i could have some fun with the truck!!

about how much hp & tq will i get by usung either of these cams roughly that is..

From DesktopDyno.. assuming dual plane, 600cfm, GT40 heads, headers and exhaust.

35-230-3: 340TQ+ from 2000rpm and 280Hp at 5000rpm
35-234-3: 330TQ+ from 2000rpm and 298Hp at 5000rpm

hey thanks i really need that desktop dyno i think that i'll go for the most TQ low HP vs the low TQ vs most HP that will get the tires burning and it is a 1406 with a dual plane intake.

i guess that no one else knows how to get the torque. well i post here later with another 302 question later
