axle ratios

hey guys happy new year.in regards to the rear question for my 51,does anybody know of a chart of what ratios and types of rears were available for 57-72 f250-350s?i am contemplating swapping a whole rear with a lower ratio to help drivability and for ease of rims.the ratio i have now is 4.88 with a 3 speed trans. i would like something a little better so the engine isnt screaming at 55.thanks,kevin

I don't have a complete list that breaks it down for 250/350's, but for '72 it shows a Dana 70 rear axle with a 3.73 ratio. Axle code on the vin tag is 36.

Kevin, there's a site called F T E (ford truck enthusiasts) there is a guy
called " NUMBER DUMMY" he worked for ford & he has tons of information
he worked with parts & has books & all the info that you could ask for.
if you go there go to forum that says 1948-1960 BOB

Better choices: 1967/72 F250 Dana 60: 3.54-1 / 3.73.-1 / 4.10-1 / 4.56-1 / 4.88-1.

Dana 70: F350 only.
