In Texas! I know what a shocker ;)
I know you can in other states but its about damn time Texas gets in on the action.
March 26, 2009 - Austin, Texas - by Alice Tripp, TSRA Legislative Director

SB 730 allowing the legal possession of firearms and ammunition stored out of sight in a person's private parked vehicle on their employer's parking lot passed unanimously in the Texas Senate yesterday.

This bill would allow concealed handgun licensees, hunters and sport shooters protection under the law to exercise their rights and be protected from termination due only to an employer's No-Gun Policy. The bill further states that the workplace or job site is wholly the domain of the employer and provides civil immunity for the employer.

The author of SB 730 is Texas Senator Glenn Hegar of Katy. It was important to Senator Hegar to include sportsmen in his bill as in Katy if you see a bag of decoys in the back of a pickup truck, there's a shotgun behind the seat. Katy, Texas is famous for goose hunting.

SB 730 will now be reported to the House and catches up to HB 1301 by Rep. Stephen Frost.

Check the SB 730 link at tsra.com for contact information and bill status.

Thank your Texas Senator and thank our bill author for the passage of SB 730.

And they are getting ready to make it law that you can carry on School Campus's

Dude...that's awesome. Not sure about job termination here in NC, but I know if you enter a place with a gun policy (excluding federal buildings, schools, etc.), if they don't see the weapon, you're safe, and even if they do see it...they have to ask you to remove it and leave it in your vehicle before you enter again...if you don't then you'll be escorted out of the building. On top of that...they have to have a sign bigger than 8x12 (I believe) posted at the entrance or otherwise their policies are null and void.

It's great to see that they're attempting to pass campus laws as well. I'm all for it. I hope it becomes a nation wide trend.

Missouri has a law in the pipes about no liability for employers and making it illegal for your employer to tell you 'no guns on the property.'

When are you guys going to fix your 'open carry' laws? You can't wear a jacket every day in july...

You got me Ryan god knows enough people are screaming for it but the house never looks at it, when it comes to being a gun owner friendly state you cant beat Texas but open carry to the Texas govt is still kinda taboo for some odd reason. I'm sure its going to pass one of these days..

Not many hippies. Most of the older folks are conservatives, whom by nature, enjoy freedom. We hide our hippies down in the keys. :D
