Uh oh- kid's '06 Ranger S/C 4X4 is having a Power Steering issue. Pump doesn't make noises, but real weak on the "assist" when you turn left- almost feels like no power steering at all. Oddly, right and the assist is right there. Checked fluid, up to the correct level. Anyone have a clue what's going on? Truck just rolled 40K miles, so it's "just" out of warranty.

4.0 V6, 5 spd if it matters.

TIA.

You work at a dealership, right? Doesn't the service crew at a GM dealership know how to roll the odometer back a few? smilietease

:rolling laugh: Nice try- you know with the new ECM's it's almost impossible to do..... and get away with it.

Update- shop flushed out all the fluid and replace with new, on the theory that a) system had run low on fluid once before, and there could have been air in the system or b) possible contamination due to.... ahem.... extended off-road use.

Right now everything works the way it should, so we'll see.
