MAF replacement? 1996 E150 - HELP!

Hey guys I need you help,
My 96 E150 was idling fine, but hesitating occasionally while driving.
I cleaned my MAF with spray MAF cleaner and it helped a bit, but returned after a few months.
I decided to replace the MAF thinking it was going bad.
Now it idles OK, and responds to heavy throttle, however everything in-between makes it sputter and sometime stall.
I disconnected the harness from the MAF and tried to drive it, and it drove the same...
ANY CLUES!?

I will keep the bad TPS thought in mind, thanks!

No I did not pull any codes yet, but check engine light is not on,
will I still be able to pull codes anyway?

Being that this started just after I replaced the MAF,
a buddy of mine said drive it a few miles for the computer to "re-learn" and see if that helps.
if not they may have given me a bad MAF sensor,
which I can swap under warranty for hopefully not another bad one.

Yes, even though your light isn't on your computer system will still store the codes. That's a good thought on your buddy's part, disconnect the battery for around 15 minutes to reset the ECM then drive the truck. This way the truck re-learns your driving habits as a whole...

I drove it for about 10-miles last night to get the computer to "re-learn".
Initially it sputtered and stalled, but gradually it improved.
Now it seems to drive pretty good, however the check engine light is on, as it was before I changed the MAF.
With all the other sensors being original and over 15-years old,
I will have to pull some codes as you had suggested to see what else is going on.
However, this truck is more of my "mule" than a daily driver
(we use it primarily to pull a 3-ton travel trailer),
so I do not want to pour too much more cash into it...
Thanks for your help!

Problem Fixed

The MAF replaced originally was not rebuilt correctly,
I exchanged it for another, and now the van runs great, for a '96.
thanks for the help guys!
Jeff
