Earlier this month, my fuel pump failed at 156,000 miles.
My local dealer replaced the entire HFCM (I thought they were seperate items or components.. but they replaced the entire HFCM housing and all.
In doing so, I guess I now have an upgradeded or downgraded HFCM because I have an unconnected wire harness laying loose on my frame rail??
I am told that the new/replacement HFCM's do not have the heater element or something like that anymore (as did my '03 stock/OEM one).
I think I remember hearing about this, but never paid attention as it did not apply to me... until now!!!
Questions I have:
1) Do I have to worry about winter-time gelling more than before?
2) Does my PCM/computer see this circuit as an "open circuit" or would the dealership have re-flashed my computer to account for this new HFCM?
3) Is it safe to leave the pig-tail loose along the frame rail?
4) Should I use duck-tape and a zip tiew and try and secure it (the pig-tail)?
Thanks,
