67 running rough

My truck is running pretty rough at the moment, I'm positive it needs a carb rebuild at least and I'm hoping to do that next week sometime but for the moment was hoping to get some help with tuning.
It's a 67 f250 with a 73 360 swapped in. Original 2 barrel.
I feel like the timing is way to high but that's all I can do to keep it from dying and sometimes it still does when I come to a stop. In park and neutral It jumps up and runs fine then I put it in gear and the idle gets real rough and drops.
Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful

Thats what my truck did,an I replaced the carb,My carb was just too sloppy
an wasnt worth rebuild. My new carbs paper work said that if the intake
gaskets are leaking, that that would also cause the motor to run uneven.

But you may have a vaccum leak. One place that alot of people miss,is
the vaccum grommet that goes into the brake booster.
Also check the base gasket under the carb, that gets alot of folks to.

Hope this helps...smilieFordlogo

Ok that's pretty much what I was thinking. Ill look into vacuum leaks first, good location suggestions. I think like you I may just need a new carb. Appreciate the help.

Have you checked all of the normal type items?...cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, pcv valve, air cleaner, timing etc?

Sorry so Long for the update. I rebuilt the carb and found a considerable vacuum leak. I also figured out the distributer was one tooth over so the timing was all messed up.
