Well the 5.0 is a little more than twice as big. Hope that helped.

Here's another semi relevant article:

From everything I've read, it looks like the Turbo 2.3 is just about peaked performance wise in stock form. With big money in a turbo and NAWZ it looks like you can expect a little more than 300hp. Most guys seem to still favor the the 302 and it's untapped potential.

thanks i will check out those links. i agree about th 302 but what do you use when a 302 is too big?

fyi... waited 1.25 hours for doc and he boots me out of his office 6 minutes later with more damn pills!!! that is what i drove ovee 300 miles (one way) for? he didnt even look at my knee!!! aaaaaaargh!!!

The 2.3 is approx 1/3 as big a 302. I can lift and sit a 2.3 into a ranger with just muscle power. A 302 you need a hoist.
A 4.0 is smaller than a 302 and putting out about the same power.

yeah, and 4-500 HP 2.3 builds (factory blocks) are fairly common.

you shut your jerk face! :D

I didnt know anything about them either, I just started with the links that were posted and dove in. If you are interested, youtube SVO mustangs, they had the 2.3T. Some of those are around the 10s. some less some more.

I am pretty impressed by that little engine. Its built like a tank to boot, forged internals from the factory. They say that a stock block (factory internals) will start breaking at about 700 HP.

I think I wore out my mouse getting past those...
I do know that the 2.3 in Mustangs and T-birds the 5.0 will park in the same space as the 2.3. A 351W fits as well... same motor mount holes. Have to change out the trans though.
