2000 f250 superduty 6.8 v10 ticking! help

Hello, I'm new to the forum.

I have a 2000 f250 superduty with a 6.8 v10. It has a little over 200k.

It started with a little tick about 2 months ago but now it has gotten louder. It goes away if i give it some gas but it its pretty loud otherwise.
It sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine underneath by the oil pan. I tried seafoam but it didnt help.

Any advise or thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
I hate to try to buy a replacement motor or rebuild it. Im hoping its just a timing chain issue. Thanks for the help.

The first thing to do is to replace timing chain components.

Is there any way to narrow the problem down. I cannot really afford to replace parts until it is fixed. Is there any way to tell for sure if it the timing chain?
The motor runs great yet, the oil pressure is good and it still has good power.

"Giving it gas" increases oil pressure in the chain tensioners. Oil pressure keeps the chains tight. High mileage increases wear on all components associated with the timing chains. You can have worn tensioners, chain guides, chains. Restricted oil supply passages for the tensioners, or worn bearings creating a low oil pressure situation. Replacing the chains and related components would be the cheapest "repair".
