1940 ford 3/4 ton flat bed. transmission options

This truck has a 49 to53 merk flat head in it and 4 onthefloor.
No synchmesh. Wondering if there was a sychro kit or alternate tranny that would drop in with no cutting.
any ideas?

Its a little outside my knowledge. You'd probably have better luck posting in the gen 1 area.

Look for a light duty 3sp, '49 (or earlier, with some fit checks)-52. Your final drive will be 1:1 whether 4sp. or 3sp. Should fit without cutting, and give you synchromesh gears. The tail-piece "should" bolt on, so that it'll retain the original crossmember mounting. The quirk to this swap is making sure you have the proper shifter... floor shift vs. column shift.

To answer the rest of your question, there's no kit I'm aware of that transforms crashbox trannies to synchro. They are either built with them or not. A '40 chassis is a pretty tight fit in the middle, and I'd agree with Havi that the LD 3 speed floor shift (used up to mid '50 in the trucks) would be your best option.
