Here are some photos of the air intake. I still have to finish welding the flanges to the tube bolted to the inner fender. The tubing is 3" stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust pieces I ordered from Summit. I will weld a fitting into the 30 degree bend connected to the turbo and the silicone ell...
I finished up the oil cooler lines, the lower radiator air deflector, and mounted the horn today. I have been trying to get everything for he engine swap mounted where it needs to be so I can paint the engine, the inner fenders and all the small pieces. I think I am now ready to pull it back...
Here are some new photos:The first photo is the glow plug light, boost pressure and exhaust temp gauges that I mounted in the speaker grill. I will paint the aluminum gauge mount to match the speaker grill. The other three photos are different views of the engine shut off valve and switch...
Welcome to the forum. I've ordered parts for my '49 F4 from LMC, Mac's, Dennis Carpenter and Joblot. Prices will be similar with all of them, some like Joblot, carry parts that others don't have. I'm not sure about the brakes. A rear axle from a later Ford 3/4 ton truck would update your rear...
Thanks Tim for the reply. It was too cold to work outside on my son's Bronco Saturday so, I since my truck is in the shop I was able to work on the throttle linkage. I still have to pull the engine out and have the flywheel match balanced the Mercedes flywheel , clean the engine and install some...
I'm adding some photos of the throttle linkage and the battery tray.

I could have probably simplified the throttle linkage but, I wanted to be able to shut the engine off under the hood if necessary. I made the battery tray from...
Thanks Tim. I suspected that it was an early '49, but I didn't know for sure. The F4 emblems on the side of the cowl are die cast like the '48s.
Thanks again, Mark
I reassembled the transmission for the truck this week. I'm using a T98 Warner in place of the T9 that was in the truck. I don't mind double clutching, but I'm starting to have a little knee trouble as I get older. Since I had the T98 from a '48-'52 truck, I repaired the rear mount and installed...
My 1949 F4 has the following numbers stamped at the top of the firewall 2 KC 8 41 can you decipher them? There is also a stencil painted number on the flat center part of the firewall just below the holes for the accelerator linkage, 1 24 A. They were stenciled in very thick...
I wanted to edit my last post after I posted it on the page, but I was unable to find the edit "button". After I reread the post I thought it sounded like I resented having to help my son with his Bronco and not being able to work on my truck. Maybe no one else read it that way, but I just...
Thanks for the replies. I will post photos as I get more done. I'm ready to assemble the transmission now that I have the bearing retainer/ trans mount repaired. I'm also helping my son install an engine in his '69 Bronco so I don't get a lot of time to work on the truck.
Thanks again, Mark
More photos.

The first photo is the crossmember I fabricated for the Mercedes motor mounts. I had to remove the flathead motor mounts as they were in the way. I drilled out the rivets and saved them in case they need to go back in later. Once I drill a couple of holes...
I welded the bearing retainer/trans mount yesterday. I'm pleased with how it turned out. I added two pieces of 1/2 x 2 HR flat, one on each side of the ribs. I made them long enough to weld to the e-brake rib and the seal housing. I think it will survive now.
Thanks, Mark

Here are a couple of photos of the Mercedes engine and Ford 4-speed bolted together. I used an H flathead six stamped steel bellhousing. I machined a steel plate to bolt to the back of the engine in place of the Mercedes auto trans mounting plate. I rotated the H bellhousing a few degrees to...
I noticed mtflat was thinking about putting a 300 six in his '50 F4. I am in the process of installing a 300 in mine, but it is not a Ford 300 six. I'm using a Mercedes-Benz 300 Turbo diesel. I have it mated to the original transmission and setting in the truck. The flathead v8 that was in my...
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like it may be a weak part. I have a second transmission for parts, but that piece is missing. I will weld the one I have and beef it up some while I'm at it. I have it straightened and the transmission mount holes in the foot are in the right place now, but I have...
I have been reading the old posts here on the Generation 1 page and noticed a couple of posts mentioning the T98 transmission. I am rebuilding a T98 for my '49 F4 that I am building for my shop truck. I noticed when cleaning up the transmission parts that the rear bearing retainer/transmission...
Your '50 F2 is the same color as my '49 F4. I've got the cab repainted on mine, I used Du Pont Nason Urethane in Holly Red. It is very close to the original color and available as a premixed color, so it was a little cheaper than custom mixed paint.
