    OMG!! what power....

Remember that just because you can't hear the engine pinging, doesn't mean it isn't still happening. I leave my timing set at 10 BTDC. :)

    250/350 differences

An automatic will definitely tend to overheat while plowing. I wouldn't even think about plowing with an automatic unless it was a C6 with an external cooler. If you know how to drive a manual correctly, it will be fine.

    Could this fit my truck?

It does look a lot more like a front bumper to me. I bet the lady selling it doesn't know what she has.If I were buying something like that, I would expect there to be some fab involved in getting it on the truck.

    Snow plow?

Quad shocks doesn't mean your truck is set up to plow snow. You asked for experience with plows and these trucks, so here's mine:Don't plow snow commercially with a half ton truck. Simply put, you'll wear it out very quickly. The front suspension and the frame are just not up to the task...

    Spot an 1980

No, the 302 got it first in 1985. You're right about the others, except I think the 460 was also in 1988. Could be wrong about that but I'm 100% on the others.

    Spot an 1980

One thing about the early F-100 bolt patterns. Some F-100's did have the 5 x 5 bolt pattern (they didn't go to metric rims on the F-150 until 1997, BTW) if they had manual brakes. If the truck had power brakes, it got the same 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern as every other F-150.Also, 1985 *was* the...

    Aux Transmission Cooler

Is your new cooler the same size and capacity as the old one? Because if you suspect a clog, you'll get your cooler temps back just by cleaning the old cooler. If it's bigger, then go for it. I don't know that you'd need three coolers though. That seems a little overkill. :)

few questions regarding front trailer hitch and plow

I was never able to find an A-pillar gauge pod for the 87 to 91 trucks that held three gauges. Two was the most I could find. If I had to mount two, they would be oil pressure and water temperature. If I had a third, it would be tranny temp, but that doesn't make sense on your truck (or my...

    Timing

He's explaining to JR what the spout connector does and why it needs to be removed when setting the base timing.Someone on your ignore list? :)

    What!?!

There are very, very few of them around anymore. They were very vulnerable to rust, even out here in CA. I can't imagine there are any left at all in the rust belt.I see one maybe once or twice a year here.

    Brake troubles

What leak?*All* 1987 to 1996 F-series pickups had rear ABS. When you turn the key on, is there a light on the dash that says "Anti-lock brake"? :)

    Brake troubles

You should... Mine is right behind the air box.To adjust brakes, block the front wheels, jack the rear wheels up in the air and put the tranny in neutral. Use jackstands - never lay under a vehicle supported by a floor jack alone! With a screwdriver, find the slot in the backing plate for...

    Brake troubles

A bad booster can never cause a soft or low pedal. Your truck has rear ABS, but not front ABS unless you removed the system.Sounds like your rear shoes need adjustment. Do you know how to do this?

Holy smokes! Anyone need a truck?!

You can't go by whatever market value is for a truck like yours because there *is* no market. They are a rarity and their value can't be easily determined.Gas prices have dropped the values on trucks like these quite a bit. But once you do the math, you realize that it's actually cheaper to...

Holy smokes! Anyone need a truck?!

Lariat is just a trim package. It includes stuff like headliner, nice carpet, fake wood trim around the gauges, nicer seats, chrome bumper, chrome around the wheel wells, and probably a few other items.Stuff like power locks, windows, etc. are options and have nothing to do with the trim...

    1995 F-350

In addition to the above things, it could be a cooling system problem (thermostat too low, stuck open or no thermostat, bad radiator cap), a vacuum leak, or a fuel problem (too much or too little fuel). We need to know more about the vehicle - make, model, and year would be a good place to...

    Start up concerns

Me neither. Two thumbs down to Fram.Motorcraft makes the best filters, hands down. If you had a bad experience, then you got a defective filter.

You sure you have two O2 sensors in your truck Chris? I thought OBD-I trucks had one sensor.

    A nice sound to hear

Glad you got it running again. Good job!Did you prime the oil pump before you cranked it? That may be why the pressure didn't come up right away.

    Setting a motor in

Yeah, I didn't even know it was there until Chris and I worked it out over the phone one day. It's HARD to find. If you don't know it's there, you'd never see it.

    Honda Civic issues

Update:- no vacuum leaks. I pulled the brake booster line after the car sat for about 15 minutes and it went SSSSSSH. I couldn't find a good place to hook a vacuum gauge up.- Changed the spark plugs. It seemed to run a little better after I did this. I didn't see any moisture or anything...

    Setting a motor in

Take your upper & lower intakes to a machine shop and have them cleaned. You will be STUNNED at how clean they come back to you if you've never had it done before.Distributor:Turn the motor over by hand until it's at TDC. (assuming you know how to do this). Put the distributor in so that the...

    Setting a motor in

My advice - don't. It's not a race. I know you're anxious, but putting together the last few pieces of an engine replacement is something you're supposed to take SLOW. There are a ton of small details that are easy to overlook, and if you're in a hurry, you WILL forget one of them. The time...

what is the stock bumper rated at?

I sure hope so. If not I'll put it on craigslist. I'll get at least $150 out of it, I paid $50 for it.

what is the stock bumper rated at?

Yeah, I was impressed by the bumper.Speaking of bumpers, I found one at the pick n pull around the corner from here on an early 80's F-150. It was in absolutely mint condition. No scratches or dents at all. I'm going to replace the jacked up bumper on my F-150 as soon as the Bronco project is...

what is the stock bumper rated at?

The short version is that said Nigerian was parked by an abandoned Volvo on the side of the road in his Isuzu. I came along at the wrong time and he pulled out in front of me. I hit the brakes, but I had no chance of even stopping in time. We hit off-center because I was trying to make it around...

    Centurions are short.

I think he just wants to make sure that somebody that shows up to test drive is actually serious about buying it. If you didn't bring the cash, then why bother wasting his time and gas?I don't think he charges people to test drive it.
