  1. Important forum management update

Wow, nice changes! It's good to see some of you guys still around here. I retired 2 years ago, built a shop addition with a lift and can't get the grandkid's projects out of the shop long enough to work on my own. It's a great problem to have!
  2. 1951 f-5, $1000

Looks sharp! Not anything I need more of....What auction is that. I can only see the picture posted here.
  3. 1950 trans options

I don't check this every day either - when I posted the other note, I had just ret'd from Ohio and drove the length of Nebraska on I70. Went that far south to avoid the snow storm and as luck would have it I drove right thru the middle of it in IA and NE. I'll text you from 406 two six one 6665
  4. 1950 trans options

Where are you? I have a 59T 4 spd taking up space on my shop floor that was given to me. I don't know the condition, but I'd give it away to someone who needed it. However, I'm in nw Montana... thus my first question. The one Stu mentioned is the T87D - 3 spd HD. I have one in my 48 F1 and...
  5. Flathead coolant leak

From the picture it almost looks like the water is coming out of the exhaust post. If so, you have a crack somewhere and should probably look for another engine. I don't recall that water will pour out of an exhaust bolt hole. It is possible someone put a longer bolt in there and broke thru...
  6. 1948 F-1 or F-2

Thanks for the info - it's all part of the puzzle. It's obvious the only constant was variation when it came to assembly line stampings. It's hard to tell how much has been changed in the past. Your battery tray is on the V8 side, but the starter solenoid is on the 6 cyl side. With no obvious...
  7. 1948 F-1 or F-2

Usually on the passenger side, but not always. Your picture shows a factory stamping.Does your cab have F2 insignia? The Y designation was used for both F2 and F3 up thru around serial # 110,000.Is there any indication that the frame has been cut off? The difference between F2/F3 and the F1...
  8. 1948 F-1 or F-2

Where did you find the VIN?There's only one verifiable location - top frame rail near the motor mount, passenger side (US)And you're correct - the serial number you posted says it's a 6 cyl F2 or F3. But your dimensions all say F1 - something isn't right.
  9. Hello Everyone

I haven't seen that serial number before. Occasionally I'll see repeats on ebay of a truck making the rounds, but not this one.It is a very early 1949 - likely late January or early February 1949.Back then, Ford was using the calendar year as the model year.If you should come up with a...
  10. windows

It helps to remove the bolts/nuts that hold the division bar in place. That gives you a little more flex in the system. Division bar is the post between the wing window and the side glass. Roll the window down far enough to remove the two clips that hold the window channel to the lift arms and...
  11. Hello Everyone

!If you'll post your serial number I can tell you if it has ever surfaced on the truck forums/ebay.Top of the frame rail near th e radiator or data tag on the cowl. Perhaps even the rating tag on the glovebox door.Should read something like 98RC 123456.The cowl stamping is more...
  12. Help identify rear end in 1950 F1 project

Just at first glance, I'm guessing 8".... it's Ford's lighter version of the 9" that was used in Mustangs and Mavericks during the same time period (60's)Check the case for numbers around the oval on the back. 8" are also durable and a good substitute for the original.
  13. 75 302 into a 81 F-150

75 and 80 302 should both be a 28 oz imbalance. Wasn't it 82 when Ford changed to 50 oz imbalance? Hard to guess what the 351 was from?
  14. Happy Birthday Fellro

I hope you had a great day Roger!
  15. New from Texas
