1984 f600 kingpins ? #axle,6,7,8,9,12 ???

Looking at parts, pin lengths and diameter. So with a thirty foot stankey taoe I've deduced pin length at a luttle iver 8 7/8". Could use a little help. Vin # 1fdnk64nxeva46207 153 k649 fm8 jwa 61m

Are you sure you have that VIN down correctly?

I have a 1984 book and the best I can tell you is:

FD Ford Motor Company Incomplete Vehicle
N Hydraulic brakes
K64 F600 Diesel Conventional
N 8.2L/500CID Detroit Diesel
V Kentucky Truck Plant
The next numbers are the sequential production number, but that number seems to be for a light truck.

153 153" wheelbase
M 7000# axle...does not give any other particulars.

If you could take a pic of the VIN tag, I might be able to figure out more.

Glad we could help...and no, I've never done kingpins on a drop axle.

Some others might have.

From the VIN tag you uploaded, I have a couple more things for you:

That number starting with the "A" is the build number, my book doesn't breal down the specifics though.

K649 is as noted, 22k# GVW.

The X and the transmisson code doesn't jibe with my book either, I can post that page up tomorrow if you like.

The rear axle is a Rockwell F106 with a 6.14 ratio.
 
i think your best bet on that is to pull of the hub cap and just find out, it could have a few types of single nut systems or have a double nut.
 
-true spec
-tighten nut to 150 ft lbs, while spining the wheel. back nut off tell it loose.
-tight nut to 30 ft lbs back nut off 1 flat
-check end play of wheel hub. non abs specs .001"-.005"

-my spec
-tighten nut to 150 ft lbs, while spining the wheel. back nut off tell it loose.

-using a socket tighten the nut by hand till you cant move it any more
-tighten the nut 3/4 of a flat
-using a pry bar on the bottom of the tire feel for .001"-.002" movement. it can be felt in the hand but cant bee seen

Hi guys, latest update, got passenger side r and r'ed. Fabulous !! I'm on the street wrenching on my truck. Pass. Side no big deal is sidewalk side, gunna "whip it out", " slam dunk" or just plain rush job the other side. The mist difficult part for me eas removing the steering ball joint(adapter i guess) with the #2 morse taper and a machine key slot. My 4# single jack wouldn't budge it. Had to go purchase an 8# sledge. Third hit. I honed the bushings with a wheel cylinder hone. Used my vottle jack and the back bumper for a press,(I don't recommend that for inexperienced mechanics) . and thanjs to you guys ' s help and insights. One side done

Update: new pins and bushings in steering knuckle. Nothing changed. The pins are moving in the axle, despite the wedge bolt. Ideally, best thing (I think) would be to bushing the axle back to stock pin size. What I did was install a set screw opposite the wedge bolt . And it lasted till a week ago. ...... I'll keep y'all posted
