Greetings, Back from 4 years living in China

People are surprised when they ask what I missed most while living in China 2008-2013..hint....It is the loudest thing I own.

Having problems with rear end, specifically right rear..Brake locked up on it going down highway, pulled over, right rear hub extremely hot, lube was spider webbed outer wheel as shown. Parked it, just now getting time to give it a look. The numbers are as follows: Would appreciate some decoding and thought on rear prob...smilieFordlogo

Welcome to FTF. There is a link below that Duncan(DNFXDLI) posted for decoding 1979 VIN numbers.

The 4th digit in should be an "S", indicating a 400 2V motor.

You have an F250 4X4, 400 motor, manufactured in San Jose, Ca. in July of 1979.

You also have a 4:10 rear axle with Limited Slip as indicated by the "410" and the "LS". That is all that I can decode.

It might not hurt to post this in the GEN 6 forum for some more exposure.

You can do one of two things. Simply put a new post in the Gen 6 forum, or request a moderator move this post. Since the initial intent is for an introduction, I would leave this one here and just repost the problem in the GEN 6 forum. :wavey:
