352

Long story short, a few years ago I had to replace a broken pushrod. When I went to the auto parts store they couldn't find my truck spec in the correct year. Ive got a 1965 352. They had to look in 1964 to find the right gaskets.
...
I recently acquired an original 1965 Ford Trucks sales brochure and it lists the 352 as the top of the line engine. My truck appears to be the base model with the largest engine, and it only has 32,xxx miles on the clock. Is this rare at all? How can you explain the parts availability? Thanks :)

from the brochure:

240 six, 150hp@4000
300 big six, 170hp@3600
"new" 352 V-8 208hp@4400

if it's new, why do they have to look up '64?

Next time just tell em 390 any FE except the 427 cammer has the same exact gaskets and such. I wouldnt base nothin off what most of them parts store guys say. Most of the time they have no clue what your talkin about.

Fairly common id say yours might just be one of the early ones or a mid year kinda thing. I havent looked into those years too awful much.

I used to have a 65 F100 with the 352 and 4 speed. It was a custom cab. Base model. The 352 wasn't new in 65, it was just new to being used in the trucks. Before that, they were still using the y blocks.
