Without getting into too much detail, I had to replace one. Directions on replacement say that there is a "shutoff valve" that keeps all the fuel from siphoning out of the tank. You turn the fuel filter cap 3 turns or more then it activates. Problem is, when you replace the whole thing, there isn't a "valve" in just the line that you remove. So I was scrambling to get it changed while fuel was going like gangbusters with no way to shut it off. I had fuel all over me when the job was done.
