Got a great friend of mine looking at an '03 6.0L. Can someone run the VIN for me and see what it looks like.

Last warranty work was in 04. No issues with the heads as of then. A few oil leaks were repaired.

Well this is the same subject so I’ll give it a try. Not sure if I should start a new post or not. I’m looking to buy a 06 F350. I’ve been shopping for quite a while, found a couple that seem decent. Put a deposit on one but it would sure be helpful if I could get a report on the VIN of the maintenance performed. It’s a 6.0 dually and looks very clean, 57K miles and seemed to run well on the test drive. Boost gauge was registering and all looked normal to this diesel rookie. If I don’t get a response I’ll try a new posting.

Ok, so it's had a few. Since I'm new to this, I need to study carefully. I only left a $100 deposit. So I can walk away if this is real bad news. I was to conclude the deal this Tuesday. Can you guys tell me about the concerns I get from this report?
So the last time this truck was serviced by a dealer was May 2011. It mentions several things wrong. Does this mean these issues were fixed, or it's just pointing them out. The owner had the option to fix them but choose not to, it they were fixed it would have listed the fixes?
Since I don't know how to read all the info., does any of it relate to some kind of a compression test? Where the numbers in spec? "POWER BALANCE CYLINDER #4 60 DROP. P10 RELATIVE COMPRESS ION PASS 0% ON ALL CYLINDERS"

Overheating sounds bad. I would be worried about damage to the major engine components from this. Isn't EGR overheating kind of a common trait of this engine. I think I have read about several ways of preventing this problem in the future with aftermarket coolant filters, is that true?

power balance and relative compression are both electronic tests. relative compression 0% means when the IDS was electronically monitoring rpm drop when each cylinder came in line, there was 0% difference in the rest of the cylinders. Power balance is that on #4 there was a 6orpm difference when shorting that cylinder as opposed to the rest. Neither is an "end of the road" for diagnostics. If one shows an abnormality, more diagnostics are needed. On that particular report, there is more that you cant see. They replaced #4 injector. And yes, a coolant filter is a good idea.
 
Thanks for that. Do the other items seem typical or more that a "decent" truck should have? I need to make a decision about buy this truck or trying to find a better one.

Dealer Says Nothing is wrong!!

Hi Guys,
Happy Mother Day!!!
My buddy has taken his '08 F250 6.4 to the dealership twice in the last ~year. They say nothing is wrong. But he sees white smoke thick as paste behind him for a couple seconds once a month driving his truck twice a week. He has been pulled over by the highway patrol for the excessive smoke I have his VIN and the results of his oil test sample from Blackstone Labs. Not sure where to turn to get this fixed.

There's some not so great numbers (IMO, rather ugly) in that Blackstone UOA. Iron (translation, machined engine metal surfaces in the oil due to accelerated wear, that's the block, the cam, etc), aluminum, for starters. So on that note, maybe immediately start with an oil change before the next bi-weekly drive.
