1966 f100 brakes/lowering.

Hi,

New member here. Just picked up a 66 f100 with minimal rust. However brakes are shot. Debating about drums/classic restore vs crown Vic swap/rat rod. Truck has a 352 and is an auto. Runs and everything. Want to do this on the cheap as funds are limited.

Thanks in advance for you advice and opinions.

cheapest way out is a brake job. then you can drive and enjoy the truck while you save up the money to do whatever you want to do with it later on
"building" the truck at this point will cause it to be sitting for a few years, and possably being sold later on without you ever driving it , and enjoying it

Experience with my 63 suggests that the brake job is the cheaper route and nothing wrong with drum brakes when done and adjusted properly. Drums for these trucks are about 50 bucks each and probably need ordered from a specialty house. Everything else can come from O'reilly if you can be patient. If money permits a dual master cylinder/power booster are a reasonable upgrade for about 200 bones.
