Brake Pedal Information

Figured I'd start a thread.

The brake pedal in my 79 F100 is "GH".. which is stamped underneath the pedal pad.

Any idea what this pedal is from? Maybe we can start there and proceed from that point.

GA or CA ?

What hanger? No idea. Whatever was in my F100... but who knows, originally it had a manual brake pedal... with power brakes.

We started to go through it on the other forum, but never got anywhere.

Truck :pre DJ000001 79 F100.

Master, 79 F350
Booster, 79 F350, pre DJ00001 style.
This truck has the goofy (IMO) linkage between the booster and firewall.

The hanger bracket on the truck for the pedal only has one hole to mount the brake pedal.

FWIW, I'm also running F350 wheel cylinders in the F100 rear drums.. I figured the diameter of the wheel cylinder needed to be matched to the master cylinder diameter.

79 setup for Post DJ0001

So because your truck is a Pre-DJ0001 you need the= same setup I have with MA pedal for speed control or LA pedal for Non-speed control

Hit the local yard today, wire brush in hand.

Found some "LA" pedals.. in some big body Broncos. They had the linkage style brake booster bracketry as well.. Also found one in a pickup truck I can't identify.. no doors, no nose, but it has a gas tank behind the front seat.

And lastly, my hanger bracket does not have the dual mounting holes.. so it must indeed be a Pre-DJ0001 hanger.

I should have the LA pedal tomorrow.

Was there an MA pedal as well ?

I need one of those.

No dice Denis :frown:

I got the LA pedal.. it looks, for all intents and purposes, like the AA pedal. I swapped it, no difference.

This makes me wonder..

How high should the gas pedal be, in relation to the brake pedal? Same level?

I have a photo from a 78 around here somewhere showing pedal alignment.
