Cool. :)

All I got and no more is...

The first thing that comes to my mind about rims/wheels is their width and
how that's usually taken lightly even by the tire manufacturers. :/

Sales is more important.
No really it is, since a range of widths -will- -work-.
The sales staff don't want to complicate the choices and run you off. ;)
So even in the tire manufacturers own spec-lists they've added wheel widths
that aren't all-that-good.

The idea is to get a wheel that's about as wide as the tread width.
So pick out your tires and then pick out the wheels.

Since you are doing both at the same time, you've got the opportunity to get
the best setup for tire wear, handling and sidewall protection. :)

------------------------

I inherited a '91 F150 66,000 miles, carport and garage kept. :)

First week I had it a rock poked a hole in the sidewall at the first bend in the
road from my house. A few weeks later did it again. Learned that the second
week-they-had it the same thing happened to them on a fun trip up into the
mountains on a regular high-speed gravel road.

The wheel is too wide for the tires. ---> talkin' about Ford stock sizes! <---

Ford never did good with wheel widths IMO, YMMV.

That same sized wheel is used on the Bronco and the factory puts too wide
of tires on it, that makes it handle squirrelly. That Ford wheel doesn't have
any real-good tires on the market to fit it! No kidding on that, I researched it
and there are gaps in the offerings and those Ford original equipment wheels
fall into one of those gaps.

It was manufactured to be a... "combination wheel size" so it sorta covers a
range of sizes that "work ok enough" in their opinion, but not in my opinion.

Combination means to me "not real good at anything". LOL :)

Ok, yeah.

Combination means it's good at beinghalfassed within a certain range, ok? ;)
Is that you way you want to do it when you spend as much money as a set
of wheels and tires cost? Especially when a little this way or that way on the
wheel width costs -no- extra money? LOL :)

Ford "slopped through it" for millions of dollars in savings, ok that's cool, but
I don't have to like it. LOL :)

YMMV

thx for the info

well i want to run a 37 13.50 r 17 mickey thompson baja claw radial.... good traction... descent wear for an offroad tire and hefty sidewalls.... i know the rim needs to be a 17 to fit around my front brakes... 16.5-good luck finding tires for that rim....
so yeah a 17 x10 rim is what im lookin for i just cant find a company that makes a rim in the style i like with the right measuerments.... and i need the right offset so i can run a tire that wide and not rub on the leafs... already got plans for bushwacker cutouts and the 6 inch skyjacker lift is laying in the bed just torturing me.... what i need is a brand, company, dealer, or even someone with a descent of used rims for sale

search craigslist, put lookin for adds up on craigslist and local swap shops..that how i find stuff..

could always run 36x12.5x16.5 they arent that hard to find as they're a popular military size as well as 37x12.5x16.5

then find some 16.5x9.75 or 16.5x10 wheels
