Ecors...

Seriously thinking about picking up a Bronco to run A class:

http://www.ecors.com/classes

http://www.ecors.com/rules#class_a

Quote:
12.To qualify for Class A, competitors must be able to say YES to the following items
1.No tunable vehicle-supporting shocks (air shocks, struts, coilovers, etc.)
2.Tire size maximum of 35"
3.No non-factory engine swaps or factory engines with aftermarket turbo, super charger, blower, or booster injections
4.No suspension modifications other than that allowed under rule #2 above.
5.Factory frame must extend continuously from the centerline of front axle to the centerline of the rear axle.
6.Vehicle hood and grill installed on front of vehicle.
7.Suspension components mounted to factory frame
13.Class A vehicles must also meet all recovery and safety guidelines as outlined within this Rule Book.

I know a lot of guys that run XJ's and Yota's in this circuit. What I lose in extra weight, I think I'd make up for in power. The TTB should actually be a benefit in this environment. I think an 87-91 Bronco with 351W/C6 would be a helluva starting platform. What says you guys...where would you start to add power, where would you cut weight, where would you re-enforce, etc etc. Not really sure what I do for the rear end yet. Mainly just spit balling for the time being, but it is something I've wanted to get in to.

Looks cool... Bronco is pretty damn heavy though. How would your HP to weight ratio compare to the yotas and jeeps?

^^^Depends if you're talking stock or not...not very beneficial if you're talking a stock weezy, but even the stroked 4.0's (4.7) the XJ guys are running aren't putting out more than 250rwhp.

Cam up a Windsor and you'll be right in the running. That sounds like a fun class to compete in.

^^^Very very very competitive class as well...I mean it's tough to pass up a circuit that you can be competitive in if you drop 5k and can turn a wrench.

Just had a local racer/shop owner make me an offer to do any and all cage/tube work for the price of the tube...and offer a steep discount on all parts. Simply because he wants to see a full size rig out there. I really think I need to a suitable Bronco.

Hey Chris...weren't you wanting to build a weezy???

If I can ever get my CRAP together from the machine shop, I'm building my Windsor. GT 40 heads (still Ford parts) and a valvetrain kit from Comp should have a pretty easy 350hp/400ft/lbs

Gonna resurrect this thread...I'm working out logistics on a 91 Bronco with 351 and C6. Hit a deer, so the front end is smashed...it's a northern rig, so it's rusted out in the typical spots.

Initial class entry would just require me to have the stock hood, grille and roll cage. I'm thinking truss the ttb and 8.8, ttb 50 outers, manual lock outs, probably some necessary shock tech, Corbeau suspension seats...and probably a tow behind camper for somewhere to sleep after the women in my life get done with me.

Anyway...any other suggestions to make a Bronco 'race ready'??? I'm wanting to remain relatively cheap the first year if I actually put my hands on a rig, just to make sure I even like being involved.

what about stiffening the body? I've always felt like there should be a brace behind the front seats...
