Brake light issues on my '65 F100

When I first bought the truck, the brake M/C was adjusted so tight that the front discs were holding the truck back at idle, I adjusted the rod and that problem went away, now the brake lights stay on all of the time, unless I use my foot to pull up the brake pedal. Did I adjust too far, I tried to readjust, but the brake lights still stay lit. Is there a "sweet spot" or could there be a spring missing somewhere?

Thank you, F O T

You have to bend the brake light switch by hand.
Sounds red neck, but that's the adjustment

You don't bend anything, as there is nothing to bend.

Thru 1966, the switch threads into the master cylinder.

1968/76 F100/350 (1967 is one year only): See parts catalog pic = 13480 switch threads into 13A629 adapter that clips to brake pedal.

The adapter breaks, the switch flops around.

My '65 has the same exact set up as my '73 F250. There is just too much room between the switch and the stop to turn out the brake lights. This truck has had discs put on the front, and I have no idea what else was changed. I believe the brake pedal has a D5 part number on it.
