7M = D9AZ-6303-C / Fits 1973/79 351W / 1980/86 is 7MA
Marked with Ford engineering ID number: C9OE-E .. Harmonic Balancer = C9OZ-6316-A 1969 351W ONLY.
Casting numbers (c/n) don't mean diddly squat, because they cannot be cross referenced to actual part numbers.
Just because the c/n has a certain c/n prefix, that does not mean that's what the block was first used, or is the only year it was used.
Case in point, your supposed 1974 block was actually used 1973/78: D5OZ-6010-A.
The same 351W pistons were used 1973/79.
How do you know the rods are from a 302?
R U sure the timing cover is marked C9JE? J = industrial engine.
Look again, could it be C9UE?
If so, that's the timing cover used 1969/72 (essentally thru 1979, cuz Ford changed the part number). It's also the same as a 302 and late 1965's & 1966/68 289's.
The timing cover (undergoing several p/n changes) was used 1969/78 and on 1979's without EEC...this is not the timing cover you posted the ID number from, this is the one marked C9UE
