next project- Grandpa's John Deere

I may be a little premature starting this thread, but here we go anyway.

I'm going to start working on my Grandfather's John Deere 112 soon, with the goal of getting it running well and plowing snow this winter.

Sometime around 1971/72, Grandpa bought a dealer demo/lot used John Deere 112, with a mower deck and snowthrower. He built a plow blade and hydraulic dumping cart for it sometime through the '70s, and used it for the rest of his life.

The last 15 years haven't been quite as good to the machine, but it's been under cover and protected. I trailered it home from where it had been stored yesterday, and hope to start working soon...first order of business is a functional tire on the right front so I can roll it around while I'm working

I'm not planning to restore this tractor; it was built and bought to work and that's what I'll use it for. I do want it to run well and work reliably...I like playing with these things, but I don't like farting around with them when I need to use them.

Looking forward to this... I'm sure it will be interesting. So am I correct in remembering the 112 has a 12hp Kohler engine?

Nice!
I just restored a newer one, any help I can give, I will.
We also have Doc here now who is a heavy equipment tech for Deere, so I'm sure he will be a valuable asset

This one's a 10 horse Tecumseh...not the original 10 horse Tecumseh, but I have that too. My other 112 is a 10-horse Kohler. Hoping to get that one in service for mowing come springtime.

Cool. Keep us posted on the update. One of my neighbors used a 112 for mowing, plowing. It was still working when he retired/moved about 3 years ago.
