2017 motorcycle chatter

Who else has theirs out yet? Anything new or fun? Big trips planned?

I dragged the R80 out of winter storage at a friend's over Easter weekend, but was traveling for work that week and so didn't get to ride until the weekend. Got a decent ride in Sunday, though- 135 or so miles, with sun and pleasant temperatures.

The original lining in my gas tank had started to fail last year, and was clogging my fuel filters but a friend had a parts bike with a better (sorta- it's got some dents) tank...and in a color I liked better. The plastics are rougher, but at least they're blue. Also snagged a Corbin seat off that bike- I haven't decided if it's any more comfortable yet, but the upholstery is in better shape than mine.

ive got almost 1100 miles on my new Harley "48". I try'd the road king but after the carpal tunnel surgery I cant pull the clutch back good enuff to feel comfortable with it yet, put about 30 miles on the RK over the weekend and couldn't wait to get off it. I got the wife a lil 883 last fall and now she's in cycle class to learn how to ride it. did a nice ride with the "48" a couple weekends ago, rode down to Milwaukee(140miles from here) to go to the H-D museum. was a pretty awesome day

Had to go help Mom over the weekend - 180 miles each way.

Forecast called for steady rain all day Friday, and showers today.

Obviously, I took the bike...and the forecast was right. Friday kinda sucked...that's a long way to ride in a drenching rain, especially knowing I left a perfectly good car and truck back in my driveway.

But it was my only opportunity for a weekend ride this month- out of town next weekend, and the following two I'll need the pickup for a carpentry project.

^^So, as noted above...I haven't had many opportunities to ride this spring. Barely 1300 miles so far and it's already June. Crappy weather hasn't helped, but I'll ride in just about anything (I do try to avoid ice)- mostly it's been a matter of needing to use the pickup for something- haven't quite mastered hauling plywood and 2x4s on the bike.

Got my first decent cruise in way too long today, though- beautiful day, made a 200-ish mile loop up through the NW part of the state, out onto some islands in Lake Champlain. I kinda forget how much fun it is to just cruise...I'm so used to trying to get somewhere, for something.

Sidney. And I like it too... nearing 700 miles on it and I couldn't be more pleased with it so far. Figured it up at the gas station in that picture - getting 51mpg. On an engine that's scarecely broken in yet! Power is ample, hit 103mph passing an oil truck on that ride
