i've been looking for a 90-96 f150 for a while. think i'm going to buy a 300/auto powered truck. i plan to put a set of 3.55's in it if it does not already have them. will it tow a trailer/car combo of approx 5500lbs alright?

Should pull it no problem. The 300 has good low end power.

Used to work on a ranch that had a 86 F250 4x4 with a 300 that pulled the horse trailer around just fine...

You won't have any issues...you won't be winning any races, but who looks for that in a truck. The low end torque should suit your needs just fine.
