1 ton bump

If you're a bump purist this will likely make you angry. I bought this truck two years ago planning on just getting it running and having it as a mud truck. The truck when I bought it was a 69 f100 ranger body on a 73 250 hi boy chassis. It didn't run, had haphazard wiring full of residential wire nuts, wouldn't hold a charge, the front end was toast and the cooling system was full of crap.

After I got it sort of running I realized that I'd need to do a frame of rebuild if I wanted a decent running truck. I also hated the idea of turning a long bed on trails so I decided to shorten it by 18" and bob the rear.

Now I'm in the boring parts gathering phase, I'm trying to be patient and do everything right the first time. I just cruise the interwebs looking for deals and grabbing them up when the budget allows it. I picked up this set of five HMMWV tires and wheels for around $200 and I had to grab em.

I bought a Dana 60 from an 05+ super duty to replace the busted hd44 up front.

I found the tank that is sitting in the back from a pick n pull for $15. It holds 33 gallons and came from a Mitsubishi semi.

The to do list includes
-Out boarding the leafs up front to fit the new 60
-changing the bolt pattern on the 60 from metric to standard
-convert the power assist steering to true power steering
-new wiring harness and pretty much all new charging system
-plate the frame where I made the cuts
-new shocks
-strip the motor and do a minor rebuild
- and a ton more that I haven't even realized yet.

Right now I'm deployed so I have ten months to save money, do research and order parts so hopefully when I get back I can finally make some real progress.

Nice....quite the project!

Thanks, I was scared as crap making the first cuts and remained nervous until we got the measurements after burning it all back in.
