New laws for 2009

Clown of Death!
You California guys better be careful what you post on here you might get in trouble. No more fun and games for you:headbang: , but those of us who don't live there will sure be having lots of fun.:nutkick:

New laws are BS, everything worked fine before, and every year we move closer and closer to either socialism or fascism... :(

I would hardly say that outlawing texting while driving is a move toward socialisim or fascism. Or that requiring EMT's to submit to a background before being hired is a move that direction.

I'm gonna have to have you explain how these new laws are a move in that direction.

I really dont know, I just dont like having my freedom etched away 1 law at a time, sure there are productive laws like the ones you just mentioned. [confused]

x2.

I cant STAND when people are on their cell phones or texting while driving. It makes them more dangerous, they dont pay attention, and then they get upset when i honk or put HID high beams in their rear view because they are driving 10 mph under the limit because their text message isnt going through. It bugs the crap out of me.

Gonna have to agree with Aaron and Marc on this. Most of those laws are steps in the right direction. A lot of these laws are put forth to protect us as citizens (bring on the dissenters that say "WE CAN PROTECT OURSELVES!") Wrong. Often times we cannot prevent a lot of these things from happening... For example, the law about how contests promoters can't tell us "YOU'VE WON!!" when we've actually won nothing. Unnecessary law? Probably. Makes my life easier so I don't have to deal with their bullcrap, absolutely.

I read all the laws on that page and I don't think any one of them made me feel like they were going to alter my "comfort level" in a negative way. I'm proud to be in a state that is active in watching after it's citizens-- I wouldn't want to live somewhere where the state takes a "laissez faire" approach. Google that if you don't know what that means ;)

Alright Conner fair enough. I just hate to see people make these broad inflamatory claims with nothing to back up the claim they are making. You are also going to need to check into exactly what your "freedoms" are. I have a feeling thst some of the things you think are freedoms are really priveleges. Driving is the most obvious example.

Well if left to Left wing leaders they turn every thing that was a right in to a Privilege.
They turned the 2nd and most of the 1st in to a archaic out of date law and then they start saying same sex is a right?
Don't get me wrong there is a lot laws that need to be past, they past most those laws here in Texas years ago and now its all back to normal lawyers found ways around them and loop holes and such.

What about the recent incident with a liberal senator that when question was posed about anti-guncontrol legislation, she responded "Well I know it is enumerated in the second amendment of the constitution, but no constitutional right is set in stone..." It is not coming to me who said that right now, but it sure does piss me off.... :headbang:

Your talking about two different things Conner. I didn't read every new law in it's entirety but I did skim through the list. I don't recall anywhere in them that it said you couldn't own a gun.

In the incident your talking about I believe the Supreme Court already ***** slapped that senator and the lawmakers who were trying to make it illegal to own guns in Washington DC.

Don't become one of those whackos who just get diarrhea of the mouth and says the first thing that comes to your mind.

i'm not at all disagreeing with what you are saying, at least what I think you are trying to say, but it is the presentation of those ideas that I take issue with.

Now if you want to rail against the lawmakers that made it illegal to text message while driving then lets give it a whirl but I don't think you'll find any constitutional standing when it comes to your "RIGHT" to drive or your "RIGHT" to text. The writing was on the wall regarding this coming to fruition years ago when the CHP started collecting data at crashes as to phone usage.

I'm still gonna text. I'm addicted. It's like crack.

if you do it below the window line, nobody will see anyway. And if you get pulled over, how does an officer prove that you were texting? [confused] :suspicious:

I run with scissors.
Recyclers will have to take thumbprints and record driver's licenses from those selling copper, aluminum and stainless steel, which have become increasingly popular commodities for thieves.
What about crackheads recycling catalytic converters? Is that a problem in Cali?

Marriage license forms will enable a man to take his wife's name.
This is just odd.

.

You have NO idea. It's a big problem out here.

a friend at schools mom drives a Toyota Sequoia and she started it up and the engine was insanely loud. She looked under the vehicle to find that, yup you guessed it, the cat was missing. Arent they worth like $500 for all of the crap inside of them too? Dayum.
