Starters...

Pulled the starter off of the 'stang today with the anticipation of dropping the new one in... that did not happen. The unit that was on the car was a PA Performance starter, no PN available on it. My research shows that this particular starter is compatible with 260/289/302/351W/351C engines. The unit I bought was spec'd to be compatible with an early 80's truck and did not match the old one at all. I'm now assuming the engine in my car is from an earlier machine.

So, the question at hand, do the 1965-73 260/289/302/351W/351C's all share the same starter design?

They can , you have to consider with a starter the flywheel size, teeth count , is it a standard or automatic . Those things do matter
