Bought New Hub Locks

Finally broke down and bought myself new hub locks for my truck... Factory ones have pissed me off one too many times now.. tried regreasing them twice... and now theyre freezing up again.. tired of messing with them.. Pass side hard to turn even when its loose... when its not loose its close to frozen.. On top of that they wouldnt release either when i switched them back to Free the last couple times.. the very last time i smacked them with a hammer a few times to get them released..

So finally bit the bullet and bought me some aftermarket ones.. No plastic parts in the new ones like their are in the factory ones.. So cant wait till they get here... hopefully i can get them before the weekend so i can get them in over the weekend..

Hubs that turn hard and stick are the pits.
I was religious about hub greasing and replacing them on my trucks. When you need 4 wheel drive you want them to work.

exactly.. mine get so hard to turn it actually hurts the hand to turn it.. i had that problem a couple days ago despite using them not even a month ago... then when i tried to get them to unlock they wouldnt... had to jack the front end up and smack them with a hammer a couple times till they popped free...

I even made a pin wrench years ago that fit the hubs to help to turn them.
I kept in the bed box just encase I ever needed it. Used it on friends trucks often and mine once or twice when they iced up and when frozen with ice.

My pickup has way more options than I really wanted, but to find manual 4x4 on everything else I looked at meant manual windows and doors as well.

Where'd you get the hubs from? Are they quarter turn or full turn lockout?

1/3 turn... Summit Racing..

Rounding off $386 for the pair...

they were like the only aftermarket company that claimed to not have any interference issues with the dually spacer up front... will find out this weekend for sure..

Why did you go with Yukon? Never mind. I think you answered the question in the previous post. Warn hubs have interference issues?

ill tell ya the instructions are wrong... this is not something 1 person can do.. you need an assistant to help.. especially when your putting the retaining snap ring in...

I did manage to figure out why the pass side spacers always a PITA to get off

image_zpsha8yvs0x.jpeg

This is the driver side... it has the correct size studs...

image_zpsoysjdsoe.jpeg

someone in the trucks past has replaced the studs on the pass side and did not get the right ones...

image_zpsoysjdsoe.jpeg

they are correct for the SRW but duallys are shorter on the hub side and longer on the outside for the rims...

image_zpsim63wzek.jpeg

had to get out the big persuasion tool to get the spacer off..

same with the driver side..

theyre a whole lot easier to engage and disengage than the stock ones... they locked in right away... axle moved... flipped it to free... axle did not move...
