Major Oops Today

I attempted to change out the rear springs today on the not ford. The frame is pretty high, and my jack stands wouldn't reach as high as I needed to. My redneck brain decided I could put cinder block pavers underneath the jack stand to get enough height to drop the springs down. Bad idea! I got the jack stands in place and was starting to remove the lower shock mount, when I heard a "crack".

I looked at the jack stand and the cinder block paver had split in half right where one side of the jack stand was sitting. I got out from underneath the vehicle, slapped the wheel on and got two lug nuts on before the cinder block collapsed and the vehicle shifted, falling off the stand.

I knew better.

Damn Doug....glad you are ok...it only ever takes a split second for crap to happen.

I learned the cinder block lesson about the same way years ago.
Now I have a big stack of wood blocks from 6x6 to 2x6. Not fun at all when they crumble.

glad your still with us man!!!! thanks for sharing and reminding us of safety. working on really heavy equipment has really helped me get out of the habit of doing things i shouldn't.
