Front Axle middle ground

Pardon my ignorance, but I've been thinking about front axles lately, and wondering where the middle ground is between a 60 and a Rockwell. I know there are some good options for the rear, but what are 'in between' options for the front that' not gonna weigh several hundred pounds, and is still cost effective, and parts are relatively prevalent. I realize that narrows it down alot, but I'm stumped. For the guy that wants more strength than a 60 or doesn't wanna drop 5k on a D60 build, what are some options?????

That's what I've read, but haven't done much research on the cost.

^^^Awesome. From that read though...doesn't seem to be many if any cost effective or logical middle ground.
