Surprise day off work (no water in the building, so they sent us home), so I took a couple pics. It's already getting pretty dirty, but that's life in New England.

I may see if I can find a better backdrop later; these were just in the driveway.

i HATE how Ford started putting the shorter blocks and 235 tires on these trucks, looks like a damn 2wd! If you were you, i would have gotten an 06-08 used one with the 16" wheels with 255s on them...that's just me. Nut if you ger aftermarket ones, it doens matter. Those 4x4s just sit way too low for my likings

Actually, one of the (many) reasons I like the '09 is the 15" wheels with 235 tires. It's a daily driver I can't afford to break, so it won't see anything much worse than a bad dirt road very often.

Being that I run snow tires in the winter, the smaller sizes are cheaper (those are, in fact, aftermarket tires in the pics- Nokian Nordman 2s), and I never really bought into the "big tire" look anyway. Seeing that I have eight brand-new 235/75-15 tires, though, it'll be rolling on that size for some years to come.

I wouldn't mind another inch or two of height, but so long as it's got enough clearance I can change the oil without jacking it up, I just don't care that much. If (when) I take those stupid step bars off, it won't look quite so low.

I knew it was 4wd, I just couldn't remember if it was a standard or not.

Interior pic shows the stick... :p And, actually, I think the manual trans might have been more important than the 4x4 to me. Considering that a 2wd truck will not get me home when it's snowing, that's sayin' something.

Wait, when did you get that. I must've missed the thread... Looks good though, almost bought an '03 a few years back with the FX-II stage II package and kinda regret not doing it...

So did you unload the escort?

Picked it up last night. (Reference thread "fixed my Escort".)

Yeah, I traded the Escort on it.

*I looked at an '02 or '03 FX4 Level II- they wanted way too much money for it, considering the age and miles. Nice trucks, though, and if I'd had the money to have bought one new, I would have.

Better? Too lazy to deal with a picture...maybe this weekend if I'm snowed in, but then again, maybe no.

yeah if i hadnt wanted mine off, i'd get those chrome stepbars from you. As far as a Level II is concerned, i seen two on Autorader today that if the fiance wouldnt kill me, I'd go trade for in a heartbeat! I guess you need snow tires, but if I were you, I would trade or sell one or two sets of those snow tires and put some 245 BFG AT KOs on it. I love how mine performed in the snow and they make the truck look mean! I dont think your gas milage is gonna be much better than mine and i put 23000 miles on a vehichle in a year.

I went to college in Maine, and drove a 2wd Ranger. If I still lived there, I probably wouldn't put snows on a 4x4. Now that I'm in Vermont, though, there's no way I'm running on anything but dedicated snows in the winter, 4x4 or not. My road is dirt, and averages 10% grade for the first half mile out my driveway, with sections that are at least 12%, maybe even a little steeper. Being dirt, it's never plowed "clean", either.

I'll wear out the factory Wranger ATs as summer tires. Not sure what size I'll replace them with, but that's years in the future.

I'm too cheap to buy new tires when I've got a perfectly good set sitting in storage. Especially since these stupid TPMS sensors are gonna run me around $100/corner when I buy new rims for the summer tires.
