How in the devil . . .

Welcome!! Nice to see another AR member on the boards. I wish I could answer your question. I have never owned a 2.3.

Is it something you can reach with needle nose pliers and pull out?

I would assume somone with more knowledge about them than me will be along.

Uhhh....

I've had it out of my '97, which I believe is the same.

I think either I or my friend managed to get a hand in there and pull it out, but I don't remember for sure. It wasn't a big production, though (nothing else had to come off or anything).

Checked it out last night, working on something else.

Stand beside the left fender, and stick your arm up from underneath whatever is in the way there (can't remember what it is, now), and use the vacuum line coming off the PCV to help pull it up.

Not easy, or fun, but far from impossible...

Heck, I'm a skinny little guy and I find a lot of places on these trucks tight.

I got quite a few more miles than you, and I can still pull that mileage or even a little better out of the old girl, and I still trust it, too. Gonna put almost 600 miles on her this weekend, and the same the next.
