Taurus cold idle issue

My 2002 Taurus SES 3.0 DOHC V6 has an issue when cold. The CEL is on and it idles rough, as in.. almost stalls when sitting still in or out of gear. This issue completely resolves itself once it's warmed up. Although, the CEL is still on. Any ideas?

Intake leak pops into my head but it has to start with the codes could be anything,sorry

Is there a way to pull codes without actually needing a code reader on these?

cold taurus

go to autozone and have them scan it for you then post the codes.the intake gaskets leak on these cold.my guess is that you are going to get p0171 and or p0174 probably both.these codes are for a lean condition.let me know what you come up with.i am an ase certified master technician and have been in the business for 12 years.i am more than happy to help,kevin
