So this followed us home.

It'll take me awhile to figure out all the buttons. SatNav, Adaptive Cruise, and about everything else you could think of... and a few you didn't.

$230 surprise.

The 2017 Oregon Legislature passed House Bill 2017, which included two new vehicle taxes. The vehicle privilege tax is a tax for the privilege of selling vehicles in Oregon. The vehicle use tax applies to Oregon residents and businesses that purchase vehicles outside of Oregon. Starting January 1, 2018, one-half of 1 percent will be due on the retail price of any taxable vehicles.

If you're an Oregon resident and need to file a Consumer Vehicle Use Tax return, here are some detailed instructions.

Nice, and OMG! Oregon is squeezing more blood from a turnip. Do they still not allow you to pump your own gas?

No- and that's one thing there's a consensus on.

1. 10 miles to the North, gas is self-serve. Runs, on average, $3.25-3.50/ gallon. Kid filled up the Highlander @ Fred Meyers yesterday for $2.45/gallon.

2. 300 miles south, gas is also self serve. $4.00/gallon for regular in Cali.

Screw that- HS kids need jobs too. It's not like we're costing ourselves money.

Get that kind of variance around here in price in general, none is full serve.

That is one reason I tend to stick with older vehicles, registration is bottomed out, insurance is as I choose and less expensive.

Registration is prix fixe in Oregon. Age/Value of vehicle has no bearing on the price of tags. Only difference is new ones go four years, then two for renewals. Smog test, but no safety inspection.

So I'm not really up on Toyotas... what is that thing? Looks comparable to an Explorer or Traverse in size? Does it come in AWD?

Highlander? And yes, there is an AWD option. It looks to big for a RAV4.

Three seat Highlander AWD XLE. Has the Navigation package, and Toyota builds the equipment into the model rather than options. Next step from here on the Toyota ladder would be the Sequoia, then the Land Cruiser.

We were thinking Rav4ish, but I was pretty convinced we'd regret it the first time we loaded up the family, dog, and all the other crap we take up to Orcas whenever we visit Nick and Liv.

The boys are Olivia's nephews. Long story short, the regular adults failed them, and Nick/Olivia took them in this summer. That turned into a one year emergency custody order. TBC.
That was their first ever remote controlled cars they were opening up. The last pic is Olivia and Titus- who was originally Olivias dog but he's smitten with Nick too.

Wow, didn't realize that's what the Highlander looked like these days. Sounds like a pretty nice ride for a non-Ford product
