5.0FLARESIDE Build Thread (56k WARNING)

FWIW.. The Explorer/GT40 intakes are nice.. very nice in the case of the tubular GT40 upper... but from a performance standpoint they're a bit of a sideways step from the 5.0 truck intake and the truck intake has a couple key advantages.
a) the truck dual throttlebodies are equavelent to a 75mm single... something that won't fit on an Explorer upper without grinding.
B) the truck lower section is a much better design with gentle bends that flow better than what is found on all of the car intakes, again something that can't be achieved without grinding and welding on any of the GT40/Explorer lowers.

That being the case why has a lot of Ford Truck owners convert to the Explorer/GT40 intakes? I understand the MAF sensor is better than Speed density.

Don't feel bad I have to go get a Fuel Pressure Regulator for my truck next week. I already replaced the fuel pump relay yesterday.

alright time to update this...

as most of yall know the truck was having an issue burning oil pretty badly... it got to where it was burning and leaking a qt a week.. at least.. also was leaking and losing coolant..

so time to build an Engine..

decided on the parts and plan...

Goal: 300HP to the wheels.. which would get the truck moving pretty dam well....

302 shortblock bored .030 over.... Flat Top Pistons

Trick Flow Track Heat 170CC intake w/58cc combustion chambers

Comp cam 35-349-8 XE264HR camshaft

Pacesetter headers

Scorpion 1.72 RR's

along with other typical parts for a build..
