1995 F150 Mass Air Flow Question

On a Mass Air flow air filter box, there is an electrical sensor on the side of the box. Does anyone know what this sensor does?

I found something like that in my searches, ambient temp sensor. I saw a picture of one and it looked similar.

I'm having a hard time finding the plug for it on my under hood wiring harness. This wire harness came off a mass air flow truck so maybe I just need to look harder.

Update...

The plug was the one I thought it was - however the air filter housing I was using must be off a 1996. The shape of the plug harness is different between 1995-1996. I actually had a back up air box off a 1995. I was able to swap on the right sensor. Simple as that. Who knows why they would change sensors between 1995 and 1996 that do the exact same thing.
