touch-screen laptops

I'm sort of halfheartedly shopping for a laptop. I don't need one, and so far haven't wanted one badly enough to open my wallet.

I've been blissfully out of the loop on where technology is going for years now, and I like it that way.

Where, in the spectrum of development, are low-end, touch-screen laptops these days?

Something like this, say (just to pull the first one I found on BestBuy):

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+-...&skuId=1751582

Buggy, unreliable, and generally just awful? The greatest thing under the sun? Presumably somewhere between the two...but where? I've heard a lot of bad things about Win8, but mostly, I think, from non-touch users.

(Note: I hate Microsoft, and have been hating Windows long enough to remember when the "new" version I hated was '98. )

I like my touchscreen laptop, I feel as if it's almost necessary on 8.

But are the cheap touch-screen models worth a spit?

If I'm into (or nearly into) four-figures, Windows laptops lose all their appeal.

If I were you I'd stick with the Mac. No reason to convert to windows just to go touchscreen.

The cheap touch screens are ok but that one has a 14" screen. That's small will make the text and touch points small.

Windows 8 needs a touch screen but it still is a horrid OS but more bearable with touch.
