Just a thought if you do end up having to think about shipping it....I know Greyhound will ship stuff. Like for example, a front fender off of a 1970 Challenger that a friend of mine ebayed and the part that may be of interest to you.........he didn't have to box it. I also bought a motorcycle tire awhile back; it wasn't boxed, just a label taped to it. So if boxing a frame is a concern, IMO, there's sensible options out there.

That's good to know, Bill. Thank you. I think the closest bus station is 80 miles away.

UPS ships some pretty big items.....I bought my KR wheels and tires mounted and balanced and was shipped by ups, 4 pieces, 1 for each tire.

UPS has some strange requirements for shipping. I packaged a motorcycle fender in a long box, about 4', to accommodate extra packing. The box weighed about 10 pounds, but I was charged for 70 pounds because of the size of the box.

You probably know this but just in case......shipping costs can make or break an ebay deal. With this in mind, every time I sell something on ebay, up front planning is given on how to ship for the most reliable service with the lowest cost before listing an item (both packaging and who to use). The other way to think about is like this.....buyers know how to establish a fair price; if your shipping is to high, your bids will be low. So where should the profit from the deal go, in your pocket or the shipping company? IMO, that's how a buyer sees it, right at the bottom line, and they bid accordingly.

*FWIW, when buying anything, I do my best to steer clear of UPS shipping, preferring instead to pay more for USPS or FedEx (or even a 3rd party). The trick is when the seller says USPS shipping and it turns out that UPS got in on the deal as a "shipping partner" and slowed down delivery and/or mutilated another package.

Rockauto do the same with some parts too ..... i got a camshaft position sensor shipped out a while ago and it arrived in a box twice the size of a shoebox filled with plastic air bags and the sensor's box was only the size of a cigarette packet. The shipping charge was the same as a brake master cylinder and pair of disc pads too.

Any chance the box was a "standard size" of some kind, something like 12"x12"x6"? Some shippers, USPS for example, like certain box sizes as they stack quickly and conveniently in containers, thus saving time when loading a pallet, cargo container for the airplane, etc. I like these containers too, as more profit from an ebay transaction goes to....me and the buyer typically gets priority (2-3 day) shipping, which they like. Everyone wins. No UPS 6-8 day ground ship that saves the buyer a buck or two. :-/

Yes they do use a series of standard size boxes ...... dealing with rockauto (i buy quite a bit) you need to really spend some time trying to consolidate your order to get the freight down to a manageable level. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a dearer part and save on the shipping if the picking warehouses line up. If you are ever bored or feeling ftftft over by freight charges just plug my address into their order page and you'll be gobsmacked at some of the freight charges. ^^^ X2, always got to keep an eye on shipping at Rock. Two thoughts come to mind on that one.....a) there is the ability to allow the web page to sub like parts of different brands in an effort to create just one combined shipment and b) when Rock kills a deal because of shipping, I've learned that grabbing "that one part" or "those parts" that Rock wants to sub over on ebay and with free ship + buy the rest on Rock can make sense.

*Does AZ customs slowly sift through and inspect packages, adding 2-3 weeks to delivery like AU customs used to (or still does)?
