1984 F150 interior Question

I have another question?
the picture below is of the door panel on my
1984 F150
I already know it's not the original
door panel that was on the truck because it was
painted RED (from blue) to match the interior
both door panels R&L look like this
in our junk yard search today i came across a 1981
F150 with red interior and in place of where the rectangular
hole is (on mine) was a slider switch the said lock/un-lock
and as you can see i have the conventional Push/Pull
lock button on the top of my doors
so in searching junkyards for a nice clean set of panels
what years should i be looking for?
I was told that 1980-1982 door panels use the slide lock/un-lock
1983-1986 is what i have been told i should be looking for
so who here knows??

I haven't seen panels like that myself... I do know for certain that 84-86 are the same, and do not have that hole.

yeah the sliding locks go where your whole is and they were only a 80 and 81 year only type thing. they are junk. they break very easily. the easiest thing to do would be get whole new door panels for your doors. it will look better.

+1.I have the slide locks, and only one of them came with the truck. The only way to fix them is with screws. You're better off getting new door panels. And anybody who has original slide locks is better off switching to the push lock style anyway.

I found some really good door panels a few weeks ago
part of the C4C Trucks that are around at the salvage yards
I was very strange opening the door of the C4C truck and
having the dome light come on...i some how did not feel that
i was doing a good thing....almost like i should have had a look out
shhhh some one will hear us.Shhhh. also got the steering wheel from
this truck for a friend. and really need to go back and look for more
stuff! The 84 is in Arizona (was always in AZ) and all the soft trim
is toast!

I bought an '80 Flareside with the same switch door locks. At first, I thought they were power locks, but are just a rare factory feature, manual door locks for this style of truck.

The passenger's lock was fine, just a bit dirty. The driver's side was broken off and gone. TThe only way to lock that door was by key on the outside. Forget the idea of locking yourself in the cab of your beloved truck in your mother-in-law's driveway.

I like the idea of manual power locks. Its just a matter of converting that cheap plastic to scrap metal pieces.

Cliff, had one for sale. I think his is gray? I bought one for my '79 from LMC truck. It came with an adhesive. Make sure to change youur dash speaker before, if it needs to.

Your door panels, did you find new ones, or filled in the holes on the old ones?

Impressive work.
