How can you compare a 302 based engine to a Windsor? The engine blocks have many differences, and besides, that kind of H.P. out of a 347 is not very reliable, because it is going to need RPM to get there. RPM kills, H.P. does not.

General rule of thumb for a 351W production block is 650-700 H.P. Some say more, some say less. Lot's of variables here as well. Fuel type, forced induction, nitrous, etc... Tune is KEY. Early model block had thicker webbing which helps.

One of my favorite combinations for these motors are the 4" stroke and 6.250" rod for 408 inches on .030" over bore. That is the route I was going to take before I stepped up to the big block.

AFR heads seem to be the hot ticket for these motors.

My 408 stroker was getting around 500 out of it and would rev 7000 rpm no problem. It was just a stock block from a 70's van.

is there somewhere on the net to find out stuff about my block by entering the block casting numbers? its in a 77 f100 but it is not the original and the guy said it came out of a police issued mustang in the 80's somewhere.

car made 445rwhp with 2 1/2 exhaust. 1 7/8 header didnt show any improvement at all, track or dyno. you can cry foul and preach about valve timing but it is what it is

OP's setup could tickle 9's in the right hands
