Understanding the technology

So I'm in the process of installing this very awesome double DIN Kenwood deck in the Ranger, and man oh man, patience, confidence and courage with the dremmel are a must. Every single part had to be modified, including the deck. So as I get ready to wire it, a question about one of the features that ALL of these decks have is on my mind.

I understand:

a) The backup camera, that's was a big reason for buying it, so as to not run over unsupervised children, warm cuddly puppy dogs with floppy ears, old people because they are often deaf and they move slow, and...fat people, because if they don't move it could cause a lot of expensive body damage and the cost of repair might have to come out of my pocket. :(

b) bluetooth, for the phone and music, great idea!

c) Pandora, because life requires it

d) SiriusXM, for the same reason

e) all the iPad, iFart and that stuff can be turned off until I'm old

and the most perplexing thing is.....

f) The DVD player. In the dash. What are you supposed to do with it if you're over 21 years of age? Watch porn in stop and go traffic? I guess I'm missing the point.

You disable the link to prevent you from watching while you drive and watch porn all the time

I'm actually going to wire it so DVD's can be played anytime. Not because I will ever do that, but I'm not interested in running another wire over to the parking brake, so it's wire to run anytime or don't wire it up at all. I figure, I have a living room with cable, netflix, blueray and all that, I have a dining room, and I have a bedroom. As I'm over 21 years of age, the motor vehicle need not fulfill those functions. Still, stupid DVD, seems like a useless waste in the dash; how many adults sit in their vehicle and watch a movie in the dash?

Sounds like the remote controls for auto decks, I've never used one. Happily, this time I didn't have to pay extra for a totally useless paperweight. :)

I did notice that there is an "adult channel" for SiriusXM and that children can be restricted from accessing certain channels on SiriusXM, LOL!

I've never noticed....I stick to 2 channels normally and maybe 2 or 3 more when they happen to be playing some gay ass U2 tune on both at the same time..:headbang:

It would seem so much more convenient to put the porn on a USB flash stick or in the phone and bluetooth it into the deck to be watched, as opposed to an actual DVD. DVD's are so 90's. :D

I went and found it one time.

You ever hear the expression "a face made for radio"? Well, those hosts (at least what I heard) are the opposite. :headbang:

Blu Ray Bill

I'll have to settle for standard definition DVD porn as I didn't lay down $800 for the deck with the HDMI input. The input that my phone has, as output, in 1080p. I hope I don't regret holding back............
